Midsumma Hypothetical - 2022: a queer odyssey

Tuesday, 19th January, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

LOCATION: Deakin Edge @ Fed Square, corner of Flinders St & Swanston St, Melbourne

Last year's MJ Loves Tina, Charlie's Chasing Harry reintroduced a new generation to the 'hypothetical' with a sold out event at Melbourne Town Hall. This year we're travelling to the not-so-distant future for 2022: a queer odyssey - Australia once again has a female PM and she has announced a national GLBTI Rainbow Summit and Jubilee, but the political climate is heating up as sex work, boat people, PrEP, and radical activists are thrown into the mix.

With a whole new line up of panellists, Adam Richard with be this year's moderator as a mix of media personalities, politicians, community leaders, and medical specialists tackle a range of social issues through an entertaining fictional narrative.

This year's panel includes:

  • Comedians Denise Scott and Tom Ballard
  • Australian Human Rights Commissioner, Tim Wilson
  • Victoria's First Gender and Sexuality Commisioner, Rowena Allen
  • Writer and Co-founder of The Institute of Many (TIM), Nic Holas
  • Labor Candidate for Melbourne, Sophie Ismail
  • Trans Advocate and VAC Board Member, Aram Hosie
  • Assoc Professor Edwina Wright
  • Northern Territory AIDS & Hepatitis C Council Executive Director Kim Gates
  • JOY 94.9 journalist and broadcaster, Dean Beck

Tickets are FREE, but space is limited! With last year's event being booked out long before the night, don't wait to grab your tickets. Book your tickets now on Midsumma's website or RSVP to events@vac.org.au
